A person with Dedicated Hunter status may own more than four firearms and, critically, more than 200 rounds of ammunition. To be eligible for Dedicated Hunter status, an individual must be a member of an accredited hunting organisation. As a member of CHASA, AGRED is an accredited hunting organisation.

Thus, AGRED can now administer the Dedicated Hunter status for its members. When you join or renew your membership with AGRED, and you are an existing Dedicated Hunter, please let us know if you wish us to administer this status for you. We will accept proof of Dedicated Hunter status conferred by any other accredited hunting organisation (i.e. CHASA affiliate, SA Wingshooters or SA Hunters).

If you wish to apply for Dedicated Hunter status, AGRED will offer a shotgun-oriented Dedicated Hunter test in September 2007 in conjunction with CHASA.

A Dedicated Hunter status holds for a wingshooter even if the test was based on shooting furred game. It is useful to remember that in essence, a Dedicated Hunter status is actually the equivalent of a “registered hunter” rather than a measure of advanced skill.
